THE GOD OF THE IMAGINATION

Someone asked, “Is Jesus white or black?” The answer they received was even dumber than the question and yet it reveals the attitude, the school of thought, that is adopted by millions today and thought to be so very right and true. This is the answer that was given: “Jesus is how you imagine Him to be.” There could be no more evil, no more satanic, saying than this. ‘Jesus is how you imagine Him to be’. The birth place of the multitude of false gods that have plagued this world for thousands of years is the very mind of man. Satan gets blamed for a whole lot of things, and for the most part rightly so, but sinful man, lost and in a world of darkness, has not needed the help of Satan to conjure up in his mind his own image of Who God is and what God is like. The cesspool that is the mind of man has seen various monstrosities surface out of its murky depths passing themselves off as God. The imagination of man has never once been able to see God. God does not come to us through our imaginations, but reveals Himself to His people in His Gospel, not a false one. No one has seen God face to face and no one has seen God in their imaginations. The sin-ridden mind of man could never come up with an accurate picture of God so as to distinguish Him from false gods. Only the true God's Gospel reveals the true God. The mind of man and how he might imagine God to be is like trying to view a bright sunny day through glass that has been stained with the blackest, murkiest, mess imaginable. One still might see a hint of brightness, but one can never see it in all its glory. Only the Gospel of God reveals that glory, and only by the Lord granting faith to His chosen can they see, understand and believe the glorious doctrines of His Gospel and truly know Who God is and what He is like. ‘Is Jesus white or black?’  Neither. He is a golden Man born in Israel. Jesus is not the white man’s God, nor is He the black man’s God, or the yellow man’s God, or whatever other color you can think of. JESUS IS GOD!! No mind of man has ever imagined the true God, only a very poor imitation. Do you want to know God and His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ? Then turn to the Gospel, for there and there alone is where you will find Him. The only true picture of God is portrayed for us in His Gospel, not a false gospel, nor in any picture or painting, the distorted image of which finds its origin in the polluted mind of sinful man.
